"41% of code on GitHub is AI-generated" makes it sound like somehow the code was written autonomously. In other words, marketing fluff.

I'd totally believe that 41% of code on GitHub was written with the help of Copilot et al. But that's different from saying it was written without a programmer doing the direction, vetting, and debugging, as well as all the lines between the AI-written code.

It's an extraordinary helper, not an autonomous unit.
