I can’t help but think of the xkcd strip with the engineer who rails against there being 13 different interfaces, promises to develop a universal interface… thereby defining 14 interfaces.

I’m not optimistic of getting everyone on the same page about anything development style-related, whether enforced by a language or not. Evolution seems to be a consistent and organic thing, with inevitable dead ends and convergences.
